KRNDIJA, Mirjana
February 17, 1950 - January 1, 2019
Of Windsor, Ontario, age 68, passed away into eternal peace, surrounded by her family on January 1, 2019, after a hard fought, fourteen month battle with a Glioblastoma. Mirjana was born on February 17, 1950 in Leskovac, Serbia to Bogomir and Smilja Pavlovic. Mirjana, "Mira", studied Chemical Engineering in Serbia. She then met her former husband, Slobodan Krndija and moved to Derby, England. In Derby, Mira gave birth to her two eldest sons, Vladimir in 1972 and Aleksandar in 1973. Her boys were only 10 months apart to the day. In 1975, she and her family moved to Sarnia, Ontario, where they resided for 10 years. In Sarnia, Mira was employed with Dow Chemical and gave birth to her third son, Dragan David in 1976. In 1985, Mira and her family moved to Windsor. In Windsor, Mira worked at Maisonville Court for many years until her retirement. Mira was very well known for her amazing cooking, and even more amazing baking skills. She used her engineering background to develop recipes, and effortlessly evaluate ratios to prepare sweet tables for large events. Mira was beyond generous and helpful with her family, friends, and even people she didn't know well. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, and most admired for her strength and determination. She immediately stepped in and donated her kidney when Vlad required a kidney transplant. It was one of the happiest moments of her life to know she could help him to have a better life. Some of her greatest joys in life were her 3 boys, her grandchildren, her family and friends, and her baking. She spent time teaching them Serbian traditions, baking skills, and life lessons. Her seven grandchildren will deeply miss their Baba. Mira was and will continue to be the leader and role model of the whole family. Mira is survived by her former husband, Slobodan Krndija, sons Vladimir Krndija (Sonya), Aleksandar Krndija (Jean), Dragan David Krndija and grandchildren Morgan, Kelsey, Sydney, Aleks, Roman, Lukas and Markus. Also surviving are brother Novica Pavlovic (Dragica), niece Mirjana Milic (Milan) and Milos Pavlovic (Vera) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mira was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Betty Jacobs-Krndija. The family would like to thank Dr. Larry Jacobs, Dr. Nikolaos Koutras, Dr. Dusan Barisic, 4 West staff at Windsor Regional Hospital MET campus, and the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County. All provided exceptional care to our beloved mother. The family like to thank extended family, friends and Ljuba Stankovic for all of the love and support during this past year.
Visitation at Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Centre 895 Ouellette Avenue (519) 254-3223 on Friday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church, 1960 Meldrum Road.
